“For reading Proust I have my house on Lake Como. Here, in Miami Beach, I don’t want another monastery to live in. I want a place to read Truman Capote.” Gianni Versace (1)
Today in 2008, Gianni Versace’s home in Miami was opened to the public. Versace purchased and renovated the mansion for over $33 million back in the ’90s.
The South Beach abode spans out to 23,000 square feet, not including a 54-foot-long mosaic pool lined with 24-karat gold (and a rumored cryptic code on the pool’s floor, natch). Versace went home to 10 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, five libraries, and a slew of parties and celebrities like Madonna and Princess Diana. Talk about luxury.
