From Missoni’s 2011 Target collection to Alexander Wang’s 2014 H&M line, fashion-fanatics everywhere are familiar with the designer-collaboration craze. We’ve all waited in anticipation for the release of our favorite high-end designer’s capsule collection, only to watch it sell out within minutes of being launched. Luckily, we’re keeping you informed with this list of the 4 newest fashion collabs that have us hyped!
1. Vans x Takashi Murakami
Sneaker heads and art lovers everywhere have something to celebrate! Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, just launched their collaborative collection with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami for Fall 2015. The aesthetic of Murakami’s work is defined by his use of bright colors, as well as images inspired by Japanese popular culture and anime art.
For this season of Vault by Vans, Murakami’s popular recurring smiling flower and skull pattern motifs become wearable pieces of artwork, featured on both the Classic Slip-On shoe and select apparel.
2. Target x Eddie Borgo
Target is known to attract amazing designer-collaborators. Their latest project is with architecturally-inclined jewelry designer, Eddie Borgo. His designs are geometric, artistic and textural, made from unique materials like hand-poured resin and brass mesh.
The most exciting part about this upcoming line is the customization factor: you simply select an accessory and personalize it with your choice of charms, studs and totems. Also, we can’t deny how much we love supermodel Cara Delevingne’s sister, Poppy Delevingne, as the face of this innovative collection. The limited-edition line of personalized jewelry, accessories and wall art is the first of its kind and will be available starting July 12th – our calendars have been marked!
3. H&M x Balmain
You may have seen #HMBalmaiNation on your social media feeds, and for good reason! Balmain creative director, 29-year-old Oliver Rousteing, has teamed up with H&M in order to avail his coveted designs to the masses. Under his leadership, Balmain has established itself as one of the most current, edgy and sought-after fashion brands – a true representation of the intersection between high fashion and popular culture.
In keeping with the times, this epic collaboration was officially announced at the American Billboard Awards this past May. Social media maven/supermodel Kendall Jenner and supermodel Jordan Dunn both rocked hot-off-the-rack pieces from the new line on the event’s red carpet. If we didn’t know better, we’d think the clothes were part of Balmain’s mainline! The collection is slated for a November 5th release, featuring both men’s and women’s fashions. Time to start planning our fall-wardrobes around the release of this collection! Just kidding… (sort of).
4. Uniqlo x Christophe Lemaire
In 2014, former artistic director of Hermes, Christophe Lemaire, teamed up with fellow designer Sarah Linh Tran to develop their own line. Now, the pair have joined forces with Japanese retailer, Uniqlo, to create pieces with Lemaire’s chic, timeless aesthetic at a more accessible price point.
The capsule collection consists of soft-knit luxury loungewear in a neutral color palette, available for both men and women this coming October. Now we’re officially ready for sweater weather!
